MY STORY

I am a 41-year-old entrepreneur who lives in South Windsor, Ontario.
Working from home or anywhere as long as I have a WiFi connection, I have the ability to have multiple side hustles.
In this industry, it started with a friend’s dad. In 2018, their 8-year-old (at the time) Maltese terrier developed diabetes. This husband and wife take off multiple times a year for vacation for 3-4 weeks at a time. They wanted someone recommended to them who could live-in.
Prior to Covid, I have lived-in for them 5 times; 2-4 week stints, 1-3 week stints and 2-1 week stints. 
Their dog was high medical needs. He required insulin shots every breakfast and dinner, thyroid pills every morning and night, and eye drops every morning and night. You can see why they wanted a live-in. Unfortunately during Covid, they had to put him down.
Because of this family, I decided to offer my services to friends, family, and acquaintances and currently have a profile on Rover. This secondary career choice is easy for me to offer considering I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I also know that I provide a service that provides a family peace of mind, not only for the care of their pets but the security of their home as well. I am bonded and insured to give families more mental ease when it comes to choosing me as their house and pet sitter.
I do not have a dog at home, but I do have 4 cats. My sister has 5 cats. My brother had three dogs and one cat, but all have since passed. I am very comfortable around animals. My clients range from having the smallest of dogs (Yorkshire and Maltese Terrier, Shih Tzu) to large breeds (Mastiff, Cane Corso, Pitbull).
Not only am I on Rover, but I am now incorporating a website to expand my network and to offer help to people I do not know. I understand the irony of what I am about to write, but though I am a stranger to you the first time I sit for you, I will provide you the security of knowing your fur baby is at home in his/her own environment, as well as the security of knowing your home is occupied and looked after.

METHOD OF OPERATION

I offer day services to monthly stays. I have maintained my clientele who have had hourly requests to weekly requests. 

Daily walks and playtime. If your pet has a routine, no problem! Each client is different so let’s have a conversation about what your pet’s needs are.

When you trust me in your home, I respect that decision. For overnight stays, I just ask the bedroom/family room I will be staying in and the washroom I will be using be clean.

Upon my departure, I clean my living areas. Sheets are washed and bed remade. Towels washed and put away. I make it so that you do not know I was even there. You should come home to a clean home; or a home the way you left it. There is no reason why you should clean up my mess. 

***If you do not desire for me to do the preceding, please state explicitly “DO NOT TOUCH” or along those lines. “Do Not Worry About It” is not a directive.****

I bring my own food, drink, and toiletries.

For health reasons, I will not live-in for those that smoke inside the home.

My philosophy is that you pay me to be there. With my main career being online, I don’t leave the home to work. I do, however, go to the gym daily (3 hours) which will be one of two times I will most likely leave the home. The second is my need for food (groceries or takeout, add 30 minutes). Take into consideration drive time. I am gone a reasonable person’s reasonable amount of time outside of the home. If you require me to be gone less than 3.5 hours per day, we are not a fit.

A minimum of 12 hours will be required for me to do night-to-day drop-ins. An example: If you require me to be at your place one night and your place the next morning, I require a minimum of 12 hours in between if I will be requested to go home and sleep. I am too old and require much more sleep than you requesting I leave at 10pm and return at 7am, including drive time. This request for me to sleep at home and return the next day will also be charged at two separate ‘daily’ rates.

If I have any current appointments on the calendar I do give full disclosure.

I am willing to service the Windsor-Essex area including up to Leamington at my stated rates. For any client further than Leamington, rates will be negotiated.

Please note that I always do “meet and greets” prior to my stay. I will come to you to ensure your four-legged baby can be comfortable around me, as well as we meet face-to-face for obvious reasons. 🙂 I do not charge for this initial meeting. The average time is 1 hour. *I will not be your pet sitter if we do not meet prior at least once.*

I do recommend multiple one-hour or two-hour stays prior to a lengthy stay for new clients to ensure the animal is comfortable and that the likelihood of behaviours are curbed. To be charged at my drop-in/daily rates below. (Please see TERMS AND CONDITIONS/DISCLAIMERS #7 for more information)

SERVICES AND RATES

Drop-In to Feed/Walk: $40 per visit

Daily Rate:

-$40 up to 3:59 hours

-$60 4-7:59 hours

-$90 8-24 hours

Bulk rate discount of $85 per day for stays 7 days or longer.

Rates are based on 0 – 3 animals. +$10 per animal above 3.

+$10 per holiday booked (Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Victoria Day Monday, Canada Day, Labour Day Monday, Thanksgiving Day Monday)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS/DISCLAIMERS

1. Rates are based on Windsor-Essex County residency.

2. Cash is preferred and due at the time of my departure.

3. First-time client: payment due upon my arrival in full for less than 3 days’ stay. For stays 3 days or longer, 50% deposit due at minimum 3 days prior to my stay (e-transfer). The remainder due upon my arrival. Cash in hand or on table or e-Transfer to [email protected].

4. First come, first serve basis. Due to this, your time is reserved. I understand things happen. Please be respectful of my time and others’ by canceling as early as possible if you need to cancel.

5. No refunds. Deposits will be applied to future bookings.

6. I am willing to get a police background check for your comfort. However, this fee is yours to cover. I have spent a lot of $ becoming insured. It is not financially feasible for me to pay for a police check for every client that requests one.

7. Behaviours happen. You may know your animal’s behaviours with you, family, friends and acquaintances. Do not pretend you think you know your animal’s behaviours with ‘strangers’ such as myself. I have had plenty of experiences where animals are not ‘themselves’ because a) I am a stranger coming into their environment and b) mom and dad seemingly ‘abandoned’ them. Their usual patterns of behaviour as you know them to be become obsolete when they become stressed and unsure. Unusual behaviours such as voiding in the home and not eating (among others) have and can happen to any animal. I do not assume any responsibility with such behaviours.

8. I am not a lawn maintenance service. I am not responsible for cleaning up the yard of poop. The ONLY way I will do this is for the client to put in writing explicitly stating “Must clean up yard of poop” for a reason such as fake grass or shared property. This will be subject to a $15 per day service fee.

9. I have had some unfortunate circumstances where I have had to take the animal to the vet. I do require you to contact your vet to a) notify them that you have a pet sitter and b) have your credit card on file. You reading this website and agreeing to my these terms and conditions gives me explicit permission to bring your animal to the vet when it is vital. Anything can happen and the last thing I want is for you to be on a cruise ship in the middle of the Caribbean without signal and your pet to have a seizure and I’m at a loss.

*I will not take you on as a client if you do not have a vet and you do not give me this permission. It has happened and it was traumatic. It is the last thing you and I want.

9. Due to experiences, a contract with the client signature will now be required stating you have read and understand the stated terms and conditions before you are considered fully reserved and booked. This will either be done in person, via text or email. I can send you a PDF of the contract for you to sign and send back.

*At the end of the day, my job as a pet sitter is to keep your animals alive, fed, well cared for, loved, and that I get your animals out of the house alive if the house is on fire. THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR. If you are displeased at anything I have done or haven’t done, please communicate that in a respectful, mentally stable and emotionally intelligent way. I do not deserve to be berated or spoken to in any other fashion.*

I respect your privacy—no personal client information (such as home details, addresses, or full names) will be shared. If you prefer your pet(s) not to be featured, please notify me in writing before services begin.

PRIVACY POLICY

*I stay within my boundaries. I do not disrespect my clients or their home. My reputation is my career and therefore I do not ‘fuck’ with that. You trust me and that is a big deal.

*Referrals are always welcome. Please give my information out to those you trust who require my services.

*I have keys or logins to my clients’ homes. They are never out of my possession.

*If potential clients ask for references, I will ask you for permission to give your information to those who want references.
